Almost all of Cinderella Castle’s 50th anniversary pink paint is now covered with gray at Magic Kingdom. The castle is being restored to its original color scheme.
Only a few pink spots are still visible on the castle. Some of the remaining gold trim will also be painted light gray. On Monday morning, March 9, crew members in lifts were working on the castle’s largest tower as well as behind the clock.
The painters had started on the front panel of the tallest tower. A panel on the east side was also still pink.
The walls at the very top of the tower are still pink. This is where Tinker Bell flies each evening during Happily Ever After fireworks.
The wall at the back of the balcony is also still pink. The gold trim and gargoyles around the balcony are also expected to be painted over. As you can see, the trim to one side has been painted gray but remains gold on the other side.
On the west side and back of the castle, you can see the central structure still has pink walls.
On the east side, there is a partially-painted wall near the top of the castle and a small section of pink near the lower towers.
For reference, above is the castle prior to the 50th anniversary painting and immediately after.
While crew members have been focused on painting over the pink and gold, the lower half of the castle and the royal blue roofing is also expected to be repainted.
