CAPE CORAL, Fla.—Several first responder agencies assisted in rescuing a construction worker who was wedged in a ditch under a concrete pipe.
Law enforcement responded to the scene located at a construction site on 2505 SW Third Ave at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

At 3:15 p.m., first responders rescued the construction worker. The worker has been transferred to an ambulance and is being transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Currently, Urban Search and Rescue, Lee County Emergency Medical Services, the fire department and the police department are responding to this scene.
According to the Cape Coral Fire Department’s public information officer, the construction worker is wedged in a ditch with a concrete pipe. They could not say how long it would take to rescue the worker, saying “it will probably be a while.”

It remains unclear how the worker became trapped underneath the concrete pipe.
