A Texas man was arrested before he could board a flight to London after 75 pounds of marijuana were found in his luggage at Miami International Airport, authorities said.
Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, of Austin, was arrested Saturday at MIA on a cannabis trafficking charge, an arrest report said.

According to the report, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were conducting inspections at MIA due to the “high trend of narcotics being smuggled outbound from USA.”
Tiernan, who was traveling to London’s Heathrow Airport, had checked two bags for the flight, and when they were searched, were found to contain 65 vacuum sealed packages containing a green leafy substance, the report said.
The substance was tested and found to be marijuana, with a weight of 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, the report said.
Tiernan was arrested and booked into jail. He appeared before a judge on Sunday who set his bond at $20,000, and he’ll have to wear a GPS monitor if he posts bond.
The incident is just the latest of several recent drug trafficking arrests at MIA that includes an arrest last month of a woman from California and of a woman traveling to the Dominican Republic.
