Trump thanked House Republicans for passing the SAVE America Act, a sweeping election overhaul bill, as he pushes for the Senate to do the same.
“I want to thank House Republicans for passing another commonsense measure, to me, the easiest of all the SAVE America Act to protect our sacred America,” he said in Miami.
Trump said yesterday that he would not sign any new bills into law until the SAVE America Act is passed. The measure, which includes a voter ID requirement and proof of citizenship to register to vote, faces an uphill battle in the Senate, where Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said the path to passing the bill is “unclear.”
Noncitizen voting is already illegal and extremely rare.
Trump added that he wants to add a slate of new provisions to the legislation already passed by the House. Trump said he would like to add banning men from women’s sports and banning gender affirming surgery for children.
