TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Candidates for Tallahassee mayor gathered Monday night for a public forum.
The event was hosted by the Tallahassee African American Local Election Review Team (ALERT) as the start of its 2026 Candidate Forum Series.
The goal of the event, according to Tallahassee ALERT, was to bring “the city’s leading candidates face-to-face with the community for an unapologetic, solutions-driven public forum.”

Currently, four candidates have filed for the mayoral race. Daryl Parks, Michael Foust and Jeremy Matlow attended Monday’s event.
The candidates were asked about topics ranging from community involvement, housing and their stance regarding local controversies.
Here’s how they weighed in on the transfer of TMH to FSU Health:
“I bet a lot of people just don’t know the details and we need to find that out first before we make a decision so put on the brakes and let’s find out. As of now I don’t support it.”
“I generally support the idea of TMH Health through FSU Health in this community. I think that the discussion we have had in this community, there was a misguided conversation.”
“We’re selling it for pennies on the dollar, we’re not getting any value as the city of Tallahassee. We need to protect our public assets, get what they’re worth.”
According to Tallahassee ALERT, Loranne Ausley was invited to the event, but she did not attend.
WCTV reached out to Ausley’s team about the forum, but has not heard back.
The forum was open to the public and focused on concrete policy proposals and issues impacting Black residents and historically marginalized neighborhoods.
