The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team will begin its stretch of eight games in Florida over the Bulldogs Spring Break Tuesday, starting a contest against Ashland University at 8:45 a.m. (CST) and followed by a game against California University of Pennsylvania at 12:00 p.m. (CST). Both games will be played in Davenport, Florida at Northeast Regional Park (NERP).

UMD will play St. Cloud State University (9:00 a.m. CST) and the Vulcans again (1:00 p.m. CST) on Wednesday in Winter Haven, Florida at the Chain O’Lakes Complex before facing Wayne State University Thursday in Davenport back at the NERP.

Saturday the Bulldogs will jump into Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action with a doubleheader against Northern State University in Sanford, Florida at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium at 11:00 a.m. CST and 1:00 p.m. UMD will face the Wolves for a third time on Sunday with a 9:00 a.m. CST game in Auburndale, Florida at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, a third conference showdown for the Bulldogs.

UMD’S OPPONENTS: 

Ashland: UMD last faced the Eagles in Florida back on March 9, 2020, a 9-2 loss for the Bulldogs and the Bulldogs are 1-2 against Ashland in three meetings since 2017.

Cal University of Pennsylvania: The Bulldogs played the Vulcans on March 9, 2023, a 5-2 loss in Davenport in the lone time the two programs have tangled.

St. Cloud State: UMD is 4-6 in its last four outings against the Huskies, and the Bulldogs split with their conference foes last April 16, 2025 in Superior Wis. with a 4-3 loss before drubbing SCSU 11-1.

Wayne State: The Bulldogs are also 4-6 over their last four contests against the Warriors. UMD went 1-4 against WSU in Auburndale, Fla. on March 14-15, 2026, suffering 5-7, 2-10 and 1-3 losses while picking up a 7-2 win in game three.

Northern State: UMD has a 6-4 advantage over its last 10 games against the Wolves, but went 1-2 last season in Aberdeen. SD on April 12-13, 2025. The Bulldogs lost game one 5-6 and game three 4-16 but won a 11-0 contest in between the two setbacks.

LAST TIME OUT: UMD lost four games to Rogers State University in Claremore, Okla., outscored 14-41 by th Hillcats.

LEADER OF THE PACK: Gabe Richardson leads the Bulldogs in batting average (.390), slugging percentage (.659), runs scored (11), hits (16), home runs (2), total bases (27) all in 41 at bats. Richardson also leads UMD with seven double plays.

BULLDOG NOTES: Troy Lynch has a team-high 54 putouts … Henry Bushey has 22 assists and has a UMD-best 13 RBIs .. Bushey has also taken a team-high five walks … Both Bushey and Richardson each have five doubles – a team-best.
