An 8-year-old child in Westchester was taken to the hospital after she was accidentally shot Sunday night, deputies said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at a home on Southwest 87th Court after receiving reports of a child who had been shot.
At the scene, the child was found, and she suffered a gunshot wound to her ankle and was taken to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
During their investigation, deputies said that the child’s father dropped his gun, and it accidentally discharged and struck her foot.
The child’s condition was not released, and no arrests were made.
An investigation into the incident remains active.
