The Bills met with Miami safety Jakobe Thomas at the 2026 NFL combine in Indianapolis.

Buffalo is looking to add talent at safety, and at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds Thomas has a traveled college career. He spent time at Middle Tennessee State University, the University of Tennessee, and, most recently, the University of Miami. The Starkville, Mississippi native found success with the Hurricanes, becoming a key piece of their secondary.

At Middle Tennessee, Thomas posted career-best numbers with 71 tackles (52 solo) and 10 starts in 11 games during his final season with the Blue Raiders in 2023. After a stop in Tennessee in 2024, he transferred to Miami and took it to the next level.

He is known for delivering big hits with force, closing ability, and an aggressive play mindset. He also isn’t afraid to come up and make plays against the run.

His experience across three programs has given Thomas some experience and adaptability that could translate well at the professional level. He’s seen multiple defensive systems and has shown the ability to produce in each one.

The physicality and versatility in the secondary could be appealing to the Bills, as the team looks to add depth and competition at the safety position this offseason.

Thomas is projected as a mid-to-late round selection in the 2026 NFL draft.
