Many Central Floridians might be feeling lucky this weekend ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, which arrives full of beer and Irish-themed merriment on March 17.

What originated as a commemoration of Christianity in Ireland and St. Patrick, the island’s patron saint, has evolved into a broader celebration of Irish culture that often involves parades, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green.

This year, many Central Florida bars and restaurants are hosting parties or offering food and drink specials for guests seeking festivities.

While far from an exhaustive list, here are deals, events and specials to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the Orlando area.

BarkHaven hosts a “St. Paw-Trick’s Day Paw-ty” with a DJ, green foam and Irish-inspired cocktails. The event is from 1-4 p.m. March 14 at 724 Brookhaven Drive in Orlando. Boxi Park Lake Nona hosts Irish-themed festivities on March 15 from 1-9 p.m. with a “slime making” kids’ craft from 2-4 p.m., an Irish dance performance at 3 p.m. and St. Paddy’s Day “swag” at 6877 Tavistock Lakes Blvd. in Orlando. More information: boxiparklakenona.com

Grafton Street Pub hosts a celebration featuring live music, bagpipers, Leprechauns, balloon artists, kid-friendly activities, food and drink specials. Live! at The Pointe Orlando is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day takeover with access to five bars and nightclubs, featuring music from DJs and dueling pianos, plus themed photo ops and festive decor. The City of Mount Dora hosts a St. Patrick’s Day block party with live entertainment and festive fun in the heart of downtown. Food and beverage concessions are available from Pisces Rising and Backporch Pizza. The event is from 6-9 p.m. March 17 at 230 W. 4th Ave. in Mount Dora. More information: mountdora.gov

The City of Ocoee hosts a St. Patrick’s Day block party with games, rides, live music, food trucks and contests, including a shamrock scavenger hunt, a pot of gold guessing game and a gold coin chopstick challenge. Oviedo’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival is free and family-friendly with live entertainment and family-friendly activities, plus fresh Guinness, Smithwick’s and Harp on draft and food trucks. Enjoy Irish dancers, stilt-walkers, face painting and more at Center Lake Park. The event has free attendance, but beer punch cards can be purchased for those ages 21 and older. Promenade at Sunset Walk features a free-admission weekend festival with performances from “DJ Leprechaun” and dueling pianos, plus leprechauns and street performers. The Leprechaun Run 5K hosted by the American Legion presents its 3rd annual event with an Irish-themed fun run in Cassadaga the weekend after St. Patrick’s Day. Free pancakes and beer (for those 21 and older) are available after the race, which costs $25 to register in advance (or closer to the event).
