Now through March 27, FISH of Sanibel-Captiva and its partners are collecting new, unwrapped gifts for children ages 0-18 and items to help families prepare a traditional meal during its annual Easter Bunny Basket and Holiday Food Drive.

“For many of the families we serve, this takes a real weight off their shoulders,” Food Programs Manager Merari Puente said. “It gives parents one less thing to worry about and lets them focus on simply being together and enjoying the holiday.”

Suggested basket items include small toys, candy, coloring books, crayons, keychains, hair accessories, art supplies and more. Easter meal needs include canned or fresh vegetables, side dishes, rolls and other holiday favorites. This year, FISH is hoping to provide between 300-350 households with Easter cheer.

Donations can be dropped off at the FISH Walk-in Center and at the following partners: A Little Adventure, AIP Outfitters, Bank of the Islands, Jerry’s Foods, SanCap Pak-N-Ship, and Toys Ahoy.

“This is what neighbors helping neighbors looks like,” Executive Director Maria Espinoza said. “Our local partners and donors step up every year so families can enjoy a simple, special holiday together. We’re so thankful for the way this community shows up.”
