Tampa, FL – Tampa’s downtown Riverwalk has been nominated for a national travel award that recognizes some of the top riverfront destinations across the United States.

The Tampa Riverwalk was recently named a contender in the USA Today 10Best Readers Choice Awards, a national contest that highlights popular riverwalks and waterfront promenades throughout the country.

The competition allows readers to vote for their favorite destinations, with winners determined based on public voting. Residents and visitors can cast votes daily during the voting period.

The Riverwalk stretches about 2.6 miles along the Hillsborough River and runs through downtown Tampa, connecting multiple parks, museums, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues.

The pedestrian walkway links well known locations including Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, the Tampa Museum of Art, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, the Tampa Convention Center, and the Tampa Bay History Center.

City leaders have previously promoted the Riverwalk as a key feature in the redevelopment of Tampa’s downtown waterfront.

The project was built in phases over several years and was completed as a continuous public pathway in 2016.

The goal of the development was to create greater access to the riverfront while encouraging outdoor recreation, tourism, and economic activity in the surrounding area.

The Riverwalk now serves as a popular gathering space for residents and visitors and regularly hosts public events such as festivals, concerts, boat parades, and seasonal celebrations.

It is also commonly used by people walking, jogging, or biking along the waterfront.

Voting in the USA Today 10Best contest will determine how Tampa ranks among riverwalk destinations nationwide.
