TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Just days after Florida State University replaced Doak Campbell’s football field for a Savannah Banana baseball diamond, another wild tenant is moving in.
Bobby Bowden Field transformed into a construction site Wednesday as dump trucks carried in millions of pounds of dirt — all to set the stage for this weekend’s visit from the PBR “Unleash the Beast” tour.
Dozens of the world’s best bull riders will compete Friday night and Saturday, and to top it off, concerts from country legends John Pardi and Miranda Lambert.
PBR’s arena director, Bo Davis, said he’s never seen a setting quite like this one.
“When you do these stadium tours, when you have such a beautiful stadium like this that has never had a bull riding on the arena floor, I always take pride in being able to change it over and make it look like a rodeo arena and ready to go,” Davis said.

FSU senior associate athletics director Ben Zierden says the recent renovations at Doak have allowed events like PBR and the Savannah Bananas to happen, now that semis can access the field.
“I think there’s a feeling of gratification and just relief. A lot of work by a lot of folks went into making this happen,” Zierden said.
