TAMPA — Stand-up comedian Cristela Alonzo will take the stage on Friday, March 20, 7 p.m., in Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa.

Alonzo grew up dirt-poor in Texas, but she can laugh about it now. In fact, she makes her living making other people laugh about it. The comedienne’s third stand-up special is streaming on Netflix. It’s called “Upper Classy” and was preceded by “Lower Classy” and “Middle Classy.”
Alonzo created and starred in her own sitcom, “Cristela.” She guest hosted on “The View,” and wrote a memoir, “Music to My Years: A Mixtape Memoir of Growing Up and Standing Up.” She’ll be standing up and doing stand-up in Jaeb Theater.
