A murder suspect has been tracked down and arrested hours after the body of the man he fatally shot was found on a Hialeah sidewalk Wednesday morning, authorities say.

Around 6:15 a.m., 911 calls flooded in reporting a shooting in the area of West 20th Avenue and 56th Street, Hialeah police said. Officers rushed over to find an unidentified man in his 50s dead.

Police were first told the shooter might have barricaded himself inside an apartment or taken a woman hostage — but police said that was false.

Police said an “intensive investigation” led detectives to identifying Daron Rosas Delgado, 37, as the shooter. He was found driving around about four miles away in the area of West Fourth Avenue and 18th Street.

Why Delgado targeted the man is still unclear, police said.

“The hard work of these detectives in identifying and locating this subject so quickly is a testament to their unwavering devotion to this agency and, most importantly, to the safety of the residents of the City of Hialeah,” police said.

This is a developing story.
