JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida softball picked up a win over Bethune-Cookman, 3-1, at UNF Softball Complex on Wednesday evening.
The Ospreys improved to 25-5 overall, 22-2 at home and increased their win streak to 12-consecutive games.
After back-to-back singles from junior infielder Hannah Davila and senior infielder Ayden Allen to begin the second inning, Grace Shaw would come through with a single of her own through the right side of the infield to give UNF an early 2-0 advantage.
With the single, Davila has now reached base safely in nine of her last 10 games. Allen would finish a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
Bethune-Cookman would tack on a run in the fourth inning off an RBI groundout to reduce the North Florida lead to just one.
Redshirt-junior outfielder Kalyn McCarthy lead off the fourth inning with a double down the right field line and would later score off a throwing error from the left field fielder to make the score 3-1.
Junior utility player Addie Keef extended her on-base streak to 14-consecutive games and would finish the night 3-for-4 at the plate.
Senior right-handed pitcher Kate Peters would earn the win for North Florida in relief tossing 3.2 scoreless innings with a strikeout and no hits allowed.
