The Matlacha Hookers are proud to announce the 2026 scholarship grants now available, not only for college, but for the trade/technical schools, first responder career and/or continuing education.

In addition to continuing their tradition of awarding scholarships to deserving students, the Hookers are excited to announce two additional locally sponsored memorial scholarships. First, the Charles (Kim) Gerz memorial scholar specifically for the trades and the Mary Lou Sharpe Memorial Scholarship.

The required qualifications to apply for the scholarships include a high school diploma or equivalent and ONE of the following: 1. Former student of Pine Island Elementary School. 2. A current Matlacha Hooker or family member for at least one year. 3. Resident of Great Pine Island for at least one year.

Applications are available online at matlachahookers.org. Simply click on the “Hooked on Education Scholarship Application,” print, complete the application and submit with necessary documents to the address on the application. Submissions must be postmarked by April 17, 2026.
