Martin County deputy arrested after physical altercation with 15-year-old daughter

FOR THAT SEVENTH INNING STRETCH. GUYS. ALL RIGHT SANDRA, RIGHT NOW MARTIN COUNTY DEPUTY ARRESTED IN PORT SAINT LUCIE MAKING HIS FIRST APPEARANCE IN COURT. OUR NIKITA RAMOS JOINS US LIVE FROM OUTSIDE THE PORT SAINT LUCIE HEADQUARTERS WITH THE TWO SEPARATE UPDATES THAT WE ARE EXPECTING TODAY. AND THAT DEPUTY IS MAKING HIS FIRST APPEARANCE RIGHT NOW IN THE COURTROOM AND HERE AT THE PORT SAINT LUCIE POLICE DEPARTMENT. WE’RE EXPECTING TO LEARN MORE, AS POLICE SAY, THAT THEY ARE GOING TO GIVE US A COPY OF THE PROBABLE CAUSE AFFIDAVIT, WHICH WILL GIVE US A LITTLE BIT MORE DETAIL AS TO WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED HERE. BUT HERE’S WHAT WE DO KNOW RIGHT NOW. POLICE SAY THAT THEY ARRESTED MARTIN COUNTY DEPUTY MANUEL PEREZ AFTER A DOMESTIC INCIDENT INVOLVING HIS 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. INVESTIGATORS SAY HE INITIALLY CALLED POLICE REPORTING HIS DAUGHTER WAS TRYING TO RUN AWAY FROM HOME. OFFICERS SAY THEY BROUGHT THE TEEN BACK, BUT NOT LONG AFTER, ANOTHER ALTERCATION BETWEEN THE TWO TURNED PHYSICAL. THE MARTIN COUNTY SHERIFF SHARES THESE DETAILS WITH US. SHE MADE ACCUSATIONS THAT HE HAD BATTERED HER BY PULLING HER HAIR AND PULLING HER JACKET, AND SHE HAD SOME MARKS ON HER NEIGHBOR NEXT DOOR, ACCORDING TO THE REPORT. AND I’VE ONLY READ THE REPORT ALSO ATTESTED THAT IN PORT SAINT LUCIA, POLICE TOOK HIM INTO CUSTODY. PEREZ HAS SINCE BEEN PUT ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE BY THE MARTIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, AND HE’S CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC BATTERY AND CHILD ABUSE WITHOUT PHYSICAL HARM.
