A Southwest Florida hotel has been named among the best in the South.

Southern Living magazine March 12 released its 2026 South’s Best Awards and rated the Captiva Island Inn at No. 3.

Here’s what the magazine said.

‘Doesn’t get more scenic’

Southern Living in the story said inns chosen are “steeped in Southern hospitality and history.”

The magazine captured the essence of the Captiva Island Inn, 1508 Andy Rosse Lane, in its story.

“It doesn’t get more scenic than the sugar-white sand beaches and turquoise waters of Captiva Island,” the story said.

“This atypical inn offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites outfitted with private kitchens so you can set up the ultimate home away from home just steps from both the beach and the bay.

The only other Florida inn that made the list was the Key West Bed & Breakfast at No. 2. Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, North Carolina, was No. 1.

How Southern Living conducted survey

“An online survey was conducted by third-party agency Proof Insights among Southern Living consumers, asking them to rate their favorite places across the South,” the magazine said in its story announcing the rankings.

“The survey was fielded from July 9 to September 9, 2025, and had over 17,000 respondents.”
