FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A traffic stop on the Treasure Coast led detectives to a stolen handgun and Oxycodone, uncovering what investigators say was an armed convicted felon behind the wheel.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Special Investigations Division conducted the stop on March 12, along 2800 Juanita Avenue in Fort Pierce. During the investigation, deputies said they found two handguns inside the vehicle — one of which was later confirmed to have been reported stolen in St. Lucie County.

Detectives also recovered Oxycodone, according to SLCSO.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Cardell Battle of Fort Pierce, was determined to be a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. He was arrested on charges including:

The passenger, 19-year-old Jovaughn Hall of Fort Pierce, was also taken into custody. At 19, he is legally barred from carrying a concealed firearm. Hall was charged with:
