Gladstone said Thursday “there hasn’t been a ton of dialogue” regarding a potential trade for Thomas Jr.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone dismissed trade rumors surrounding third-year wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. on Thursday, calling them “fraudulent claims.”

When asked how aggressive other teams have been in trying to trade for Thomas Jr., and whether the team has received an offer, Gladstone said: “No, we haven’t and there hasn’t been a ton of dialogue on that front…We don’t have any real action.”

Thomas Jr. is coming off a bit of a “sophomore slump” in his second NFL season. Despite the Jags offense’s overall improvement in 2025, the 23-year-old, former first-round pick scored eight less receiving touchdowns and posted 575 fewer receiving yards compared to his 2024 campaign. He also wasn’t able to record one 100-yeard receiving game, after recording four his rookie year.

“I care more for what weight [trade rumors] may put on Brian himself,” Gladstone said. “When it’s fraudulent claims, you just keep your mind on what you can focus on and what you can actually control, and try to do what’s best for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I think you think back to where we landed at the end of the [2025] season, where our passing attack was. We have no interest in disrupting the momentum. We look forward to continuing to build off of where we left things, and know that Brian Thomas [Jr.] is a big piece to that puzzle.”

According to ESPN, the Jaguars ranked 11th in the league in total yards per game in 2025, and sixth in points per game, up from ranking 26th in 2024.

The Jags offense will certainly look to maintain their momentum in 2026. After losing running back Travis Etienne Jr. to the New Orleans Saints in free agency, the team in response added former Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr., who signed with Jacksonville Wednesday. The Jags will also be expecting a healthy return from Travis Hunter, who missed the team’s last 11 games after going down with a knee injury in October.
