The city of Cape Coral received two proposals from food truck vendors interested in providing services at the Yacht Club.

The city’s Request for Proposals, which closed on Feb. 24, garnered a response from a gelato and a lemonade vendor. Both vendors were approved on March 4 by the city’s evaluation committee for a potential concessionaire agreement.

Finance Director Crystal Feast said the city is developing a draft, which will go before the legal office and then the vendors. The hope is to have it ready within a week to a week and a half .

“The scope of the RFP allows up to three vendors, and we would work on a schedule to have at least three at any given time,” she said.

City Manager Michael Ilcyczsyn said they are trying to pivot – being more flexible – with an alternative plan to get them down there sooner, as they are responsive and responsible vendors.

Councilmember Keith Long asked what the process would be to bring forward something that you can consume – like food.

“We can find out if they have any food. See if they have plans to, if not we can issue a smaller one for a food vendor,” Ilczyszyn said.

The city’s RFP opened Feb. 3.

It was promoted by using the Parks and Recreation Department food vendor email list and the plan holder registered in the electronic procurement system.
