Firefighters were seen Friday responding to a Hialeah home where police and Department of Homeland Security agents targeted a barricaded man who was allegedly previously deported and illegally re-entered the country, police officials said.

Hialeah Police Officers and DHS agents had been at the home since 11 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 68th Street.

Police officials confirmed the investigation is being led by DHS.

Tactical units were seen using heavy force, destroying the front door, security gate and a front window of the house, and deploying over 20 tear gas canisters.

Later in the evening, NBC6 observed smoke coming from the house. A Hialeah Fire Rescue responded to the scene and firefighters were seen taking the hose into the home.
