The National Weather Service has confirmed several tornadoes touched down during severe storms that moved through eastern North Carolina Thursday afternoon.
According to preliminary storm surveys released by the National Weather Service office in Newport/Morehead City, five tornadoes have been confirmed so far.
An EF-0 tornado touched down in Jacksonville around 2:16 p.m. near New River Station in Onslow County. The tornado had estimated peak winds of 85 miles per hour, with a path length of about 792 feet and a width of approximately 20 yards.
The National Weather Service also confirmed four EF-1 tornadoes associated with the same storm system.

Maysville in Jones County Fairfield Harbour in Craven CountyWhortonsville in Pamlico CountyFlorence in Pamlico County
Officials reported one injury associated with the Florence tornado. No fatalities were reported.
Details including the tornado’s path length and maximum width are still being determined, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday’s storms produced strong winds and scattered damage reports across the region as severe thunderstorms moved through eastern North Carolina.
