Florida is home to some of the world’s most famous theme parks, but a newer destination is now getting global attention. TIME recently included Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe in its list of the World’s Greatest Places to Visit in 2026.
The recognition highlights how quickly the park has become a major attraction for travelers visiting Orlando.
Epic Universe earns global recognition
TIME released its annual roundup of the World’s Greatest Places on March 12. The list highlights destinations around the globe that offer memorable experiences for travelers. Epic Universe was included in the “Places to Visit” category for North America.
The park officially opened to the public in May 2025 at Universal Orlando Resort. Its arrival marked the first major theme park opening in the United States in more than two decades. Since then, it has drawn attention from travelers, industry experts, and theme park fans.
Five themed lands bring immersive storytelling
Epic Universe stands out for its design, which centers on themed portals that transport visitors into different worlds. Each portal leads to a land with its own attractions, rides, and storytelling. The concept allows guests to feel like they are stepping into entirely new environments.

The park features five lands: Celestial Park, Dark Universe, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. Each area focuses on a different franchise or theme, giving visitors a variety of experiences in one park. The lands combine rides, dining spots, shops, and entertainment.
Popular attractions drawing visitors
Some of the park’s rides are already gaining strong attention from visitors. One highlight is the “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry” attraction located in the Ministry of Magic land. The experience takes guests into a magical version of 1920s Paris inspired by the Wizarding World.
Another popular ride is Stardust Racers in Celestial Park. The dual launch coaster reaches speeds of about 62 miles per hour and climbs as high as 133 feet. Riders race across twisting tracks while music plays during the experience.
A new hotel adds convenience for guests
The Universal Helios Grand Hotel also received praise alongside the park. The hotel opened in 2025 and sits directly next to Epic Universe. It offers guests a dedicated entrance that leads straight into the park.

This direct access is a first for a Universal Orlando hotel. Guests staying there can enter the park quickly without relying on buses or long walks. The hotel adds another option for travelers who want to stay close to the attractions.
How TIME selects the world’s greatest places
TIME creates the annual list using nominations from its global network of correspondents and contributors. Businesses and destinations can also apply to be considered. Editors then review the entries and select locations that stand out for innovation, experience, and cultural impact.
The recognition reflects growing interest in global travel. According to recent travel data cited by TIME, around 1.5 billion people traveled internationally in 2025. That number represents a 4 percent increase compared with the previous year.
