The Jacksonville Icemen have added another versatile player to their roster, signing defenseman Trevor Griebel. A native of Tampa, Florida, Griebel brings experience at both the junior and collegiate levels and offers the Icemen lineup flexibility, having played both defense and forward throughout his career.

Junior Career

Griebel began his junior career in the BCHL with the Wenatchee Wild, where he spent two seasons developing his game. Across 95 games, he recorded seven goals and 21 assists for 28 points while gaining experience against strong competition.

He then moved to the USHL, joining the Fargo Force, where he continued to develop his two-way game. Over two seasons in Fargo, Griebel appeared in 104 games and posted eight goals and 34 assists for 42 points. His best offensive season came in 2021–22, when he recorded four goals and 21 assists for 25 points in 51 games. He also set a career high in assists.

Collegiate Career

Griebel began his NCAA career at Merrimack College, where he played three seasons for the Warriors from 2022–23 through 2024–25. As a freshman, he appeared in nine games and scored his first collegiate goal against UMass. In 2023–24, he expanded his role. Across 19 games, he recorded two goals and four assists for six points. Griebel also scored the game-winning goal against St. Lawrence on Oct. 22, finishing the season with a team-leading +5 rating. He returned in 2024–25 and appeared in 25 games, recording one goal and four assists for five points. He contributed defensively with 15 blocked shots and 15 shots on goal.

For the 2025–26 season, Griebel transferred to Long Island University, where he served as an alternate captain. He produced the strongest offensive season of his collegiate career that year. In 30 games, he recorded two goals and 18 assists for 20 points. He had a career high in assists and provided steady playmaking from the blue line.

What Griebel Brings to Jacksonville

At 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds, Griebel adds mobility and offensive instincts to the Icemen blue line. His ability to contribute from the back end, along with his time playing forward, gives Jacksonville flexibility in how he can be deployed, while his strong assist numbers in his final NCAA season highlight his ability todrive offense. Griebel arrives at the professional level as a playmaking defenseman with positional ability, giving the Icemen a depth option capable of filling multiple roles as the season continues down the stretch.
