The University of South Carolina baseball team fell to No. 23 Florida, 3-0, on Saturday night (March 14) at Condron Family Ballpark.Florida scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out dropped fly ball. The Gators tagged on two more runs in the seventh on a pair of sacrifice flies. The Gamecocks best chance of scoring was in the top of the fifth when Patrick Evans doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. After a walk, Florida’s Aidan King struck out the next two batters.Carolina starter Amp Phillips pitched six innings for the Gamecocks and allowed an unearned run on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts.Beau Hollins had two hits to lead Carolina’s offense.POSTGAME NOTES Phillips lowered his ERA to 2.62 after tonight’s outing. The Gamecock pitching staff has allowed just three earned runs in 17.2 innings in the Florida series.
