JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — Community members will gather next week for a candlelight vigil to honor the life of Staci Davis, who was killed in Jacksonville.
The New River YMCA – Onslow announced it will host the vigil Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m. at the New River YMCA Early Learning Center, located at 159 Chaney Ave. in Jacksonville.
Organizers say the event will be a time for family, friends, and community members to come together to remember Davis and support one another.
The vigil comes after Davis was killed in what Jacksonville police have described as a domestic-related shooting.
Her husband, 48-year-old Michael Ray Davis, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with her death. A judge ordered him held without bond during his first court appearance earlier this week.
The New River YMCA – Onslow said the vigil will allow the community to reflect on Davis’ life and legacy while standing together in remembrance.
Because parking at the childcare center will be limited, attendees are asked to park at the Public Safety Building on Court Street and walk down Chaney Avenue to the Early Learning Center.
Community members are invited to attend and show their support for Davis’ family and loved ones.
