ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man faces felony charges after deputies say he brutally killed a 7-year-old Chihuahua for entering a bedroom where she wasn’t allowed.

Deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office say they responded to a home on the 5200 block of 78th Street North in St. Petersburg for a domestic disturbance just before 3 p.m. on Saturday.

When deputies arrived, they allegedly found a deceased 7-year-old Chihuahua named Sheba outside the home.

An investigation revealed that 35-year-old Christopher Howard kicked the dog across the room because she was not allowed in his room.

Deputies said that after kicking her, he grabbed her by the neck, threw her toward a doorway, struck her with a chair, and then picked her up again before dropping her outside.

Authorities found probable cause to book Howard for a felony count of cruelty to animals.
