CARROLLTON, Ga. – Behind a solid, complete game performance from pitcher Jacy Harrelson, the Jacksonville Dolphins are in the conference win column after a 4-1 victory Sunday.
The win was the first of the year, in three games, for the ‘Phins and pushed the Dolphins to 16-13 overall.
Harrelson moved to 9-6 after the win. She pitched the full game, only allowing three hits. The Wolves were kept scoreless till the bottom of the seventh. The sophomore ace also reset her career high in strikeouts with a nine K performance. It was her fifth outing over five strikeouts this season.
At the plate, freshman Jaida Thomas got the Dolphins ahead in the fourth with a single to right with a two-RBI single. In the seventh, Sarah Beth Brake knocked home her second homer of the weekend, plating two teammates. Brake now has eight homers – a team lead.Â
Thomas led the squad with a 2-4 showing at the dish. Kate Linkletter added to her season hit by pitch total, getting plunked twice moving her to 15 HBPs this season. She leads the ASUN in the category and also leads the entire NCAA.
Jacksonville returns home to the 904 area code for a three-game stand against rival UNF this week, starting Thursday March 19 at 7 p.m. The ‘Phins are next home against the Wolves starting Saturday March 28 at 2 p.m.
