PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A shooting in Volusia County sent a police officer and a suspect to the hospital on Sunday.
The injured officer has been identified as Jake Fessenden of the South Daytona Police Department.

It happened right along I-95, near I-4 and Beville Road.
According to Port Orange police, this all began with officers responding to a separate reported shooting near Country Lane.
They say no one was injured in that shooting.
Officers say the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Todd Martin, got into a vehicle and drove away.
Police say they pursued Martin onto I-95, where he was involved in a crash.
Police say Martin then got out of the car and fired at officers, hitting Fessenden. Officers then returned fire.
Fessenden was shot twice and has been taken to a hospital where he will need surgery.
Police say Martin suffered not only gunshot wounds but also severe burns after barricading himself inside a patrol vehicle that caught fire.
They say Martin is hospitalized and in critical condition.
