It’s a new year, and for many Americans, that means a brand-new start in an all-new place. But some zip codes are hotter than others.
The hottest zip code in the United States was 34987 in Port St. Lucie, Florida, which boasted 16.2 moves per 1,000 people, according to a report from MovingPlace. It was the fourth consecutive month Port St. Lucie placed in MovingPlace’s top 10 rankings.
The data was based on “U.S. migration flows” from December 2025.
“As we move into a new year, the data shows that people are being much more strategic about where they move,” the company wrote in its findings. “While the massive surge of migration to the Sunbelt remains a primary driver of growth, moving to a particular state or region is taking a back seat to moving to very specific neighborhoods.
“People are increasingly heading toward the commutable edges of major metropolitan areas, where new construction and affordability offer relief from high-cost urban centers,” the company added.
In Port St. Lucie, the report found particularly high demand from high-income households, which it said was “likely bolstered by the location’s modern communities and appeal to those seeking a high quality of life in the Sunbelt.”Â
According to the data, the median household income there was just a touch under $80,000, while the median house price was $450,000.
Coming in a close second was 75114, the zip code for Crandall, Texas. Sitting Southeast of Dallas, the city had 12.4 moves per capita and a median household income of more than $88,800. MovingPlace noted Crandall was a “rapidly growing suburb that offers a more affordable alternative to the core metro areas nearby” with new housing developments to attract new residents.
Rounding out the top three was 87001, the zip code for Algodones, New Mexico, which saw 12.1 moves per 1,000 residents. There, the median household income was just over $65,000 while median home prices came in at $95,000.Â
“Situated between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, this area has become an emerging destination for those seeking a unique blend of rural charm and proximity to major urban centers,” the company wrote in its report.
