ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A national family-friendly sports bar and restaurant chain is celebrating the grand opening of its second St. Petersburg location on Tuesday, according to a news release.

The new Beef ‘O’ Brady’s is opening in west St. Petersburg, near the Tyrone Square mall, at 2901 66th Street N.

The restaurant took over a space that was previously home to Applebee’s, which abruptly closed in July.

The franchise owners, Amit and Jamie Khanna, previously owned a restaurant and a gas station in Colorado.

After moving to St. Petersburg, they were looking to a restaurant opportunity that would allow them to get involved in the community, the news release said.

Through Beef ‘O’ Brady, the couple plans to work with local youth sports programs and to host community events each week.

The restaurant’s opening will create 50 new jobs in the area.

Founded in Brandon in 1985 by Jim Mellody, Beef O’Brady’s has 130 locations in 15 states, according to its parent company, FSC Franchise Co.

A second St. Petersburg Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, owned by Aaron Carricato, is located at 4775 34th Street South.

Inspired by Mellody’s love of sports, the brand’s restaurants feature numerous TVs so diners can catch their favorite teams and major sporting events, and the walls are covered with authentic sports memorabilia.
