TAMPA, FL — Firefighters responded quickly after multiple boats caught fire in the Tampa Yacht & Country Club marina on Friday night, Tampa Fire Rescue wrote in a social media post.
When Engine 15 arrived first at the scene, around 7:30 p.m., crew members saw heavy smoke coming from the marina, where a docked boat was on fire.
Flames were pushing from the boat’s interior cabin and, because of the fire’s intensity, it spread to a nearby boat, TFR said.
Both vessels were unmanned at the time of the fire.
As additional crews arrived, firefighters worked to contain the fire and protect surrounding boats.
Fireboat 1 and 19 played a key role in the response, attacking the fire from the water, while supporting crews operated along the dock, fire officials said.
Through coordinated efforts, crews were able to bring the fire under control and safeguard nearby vessels, including one that sustained only minor heat damage.
There were no reported injuries.
Investigators with the Tampa Fire Marshal’s Office are working to determine the cause of the fire.
