Two Miami-Dade high school students brought knives onto the school bus Friday with the intention of using it against another student, police said.

Yadrian Hernandez, 18, and Wedley Gouverneur, 18, were on the bus together around 7:40 a.m. heading to Barbara Goleman Senior High School in Miami Lakes, according to the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department.

Hernandez brought a knife with a black handle and a 3.5 inch blade and gave it to Gouverneur to hide in his backpack, an arrest affidavit said. Gouverneur also brought a knife with a brown handle.

The day before, Hernandez had a “mutual” physical altercation with a male student, and he brought the knife with the intention of using it against that student, whom was not identified by police, the affidavit said.

Hernandez and Gouverneur admitted to police they brought a knife onto school grounds, the affidavit said. They were arrested for possession of a weapon on school property and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Both men had bonded out of jail as of Monday, records show. Attorney Nat Stelter was listed as representing both students. He did not respond Monday to a request for comment.
