Zoo Miami had another bomb threat on Monday, March 16, 2026, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. This was the fourth bomb threat since Friday, the sheriff’s office said.

Zoo Miami received another bomb threat Monday, marking the fourth one since Friday, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.
By 6 p.m. the sheriff’s office declared the property all clear, said Ivan Castro, a Zoo Miami spokesman.
The sheriff’s office thinks the threats are “swatting calls,” hoaxes to provoke a strong law-enforcement response, but nevertheless sent deputies to the property at Southwest 152nd Street to conduct a thorough sweep, said Detective Luis Sierra, an agency spokesman.

The zoo was forced to close early due to threats received Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday’s threat appears to have been received after the zoo’s regularly scheduled daily close time of 5 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
The zoo said on its website Monday that there will be additional security measures in place in the form of deputies, including K-9 units, on the property “for screening and surveillance.”
