PopularSt. Petersburg vegan hot dog pop-up Nah Dogs has found a permanent home in the former Rabbit Rabbit space downtown.

With a lush courtyard and dedicated patio spaceat 18 22nd St. S. in the Grand Central District,Nah Dogs will neighbor Black Crow Coffee Co. and Tombolo Books.

Jeff and Jenny Howe started the pop-up in 2019 with a hot dog cart using Loma Linda’s Big Frank Vegan Hot Dogs, which they still use to this day. The couple hopes to be open in the space by early summer, potentially May if everything aligns, Jenny Howe said by phone.

Nah Dogs is known for its inventive vegan twists on classic and original hot dogs, like the “Brat Outta Hell” with a Beyond Brat, cream cheese, sweet and hot pepper relish, and fried jalapeno on a poppy seed bun. And The Captain, with chili, nacho cheese, fried onions and spicy mustard. The Captain is named for Howe’s father, a boat captain himself, and his favorite Coney Island Dog from the now-closed Coney Island Sandwich Shop.

The Howes own lauded vegan restaurant and bar Good Intentions, which landed on our food critic’s list of 2025’s Top 50 Restaurants.

Nah Dogs will continue its mobile roots, with Howe planning to have the cart pop up at local breweries, festivals, markets and shows.

Howe is looking forward to moving into the brick-and-mortar, she said, a 500-square-foot space with 12 seats and a little patio.

“The summers are rough,” she said.

Throughout the years, customers would often ask Howe if Nah Dogs was moving to a more permanent location, she said.

“The space was manageable and perfect and the patio sealed the deal.”

Howe plans to carry beer and wine down the road, with some music programming on the patio as Nah Dogs grows into the space.

“A safe, comfortable place for our community to gather,” said Howe.
