JSO detectives said the chase stemmed from an early morning traffic stop near JAXPORT.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — No one was injured late Monday night after JSO detectives said their officers were fired upon from a house during a foot chase in Jacksonville’s Tallyrand area.

Jordan Dowling, the commander of JSO’s specialized investigations, said officers had pulled over a car around 10:55 p.m. Monday on East 26th Street and Haines Street when the two people inside got out of the car and ran from them.

The officers followed them on foot, chasing them about a block to the 1500 block of East 28th Street when Dowling said they were fired upon from a house.

No officers were hit by gunfire and they did not return fire on the house, despite at least one suspect firing multiple times at them, according to Dowling.

Officers then surrounded the house and commanded those inside to come out. The two people inside the house were arrested without further incident, and one of the people who ran from the traffic stop was taken into custody, with the other still at large.

Dowling said at this time they do not believe the people in the house and those in the car were associated with each other, and that there’s no danger to the public.

There were no reports of other people, structures or vehicles hit by gunfire, Dowling said. The shooting remains under investigation.
