Jacksonville firefighters pulled the pets from the home, which is believed to have caught fire after an electrical malfunction.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Big or small, Fire Rescue works to save them all.
The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department said it responded to an active fire at a Northside home near Pulaski Road Saturday, where they discovered two pets trapped inside.
Video from the department shows heavy smoke coming from the home.
A dog and a cat were carried out by firefighters, while others worked to keep it from spreading from the laundry room to the rest of the home.
Photos from the scene show Station 37Â firefighters administering oxygen through small pet masks to a brown tabby cat and a black and white dog.

“Both animals were treated on scene, made significant improvement, and survived the conditions inside the home,” JFRD wrote.
No one else was reported injured.
A preliminary JFRD investigation indicated that the fire may have been caused by an electrical issue near a dryer in the laundry room.
“Dryers are among the most common sources of residential fires,” JFRD wrote. “Residents are encouraged to clean lint traps regularly and have any electrical issues around appliances inspected promptly.”

On Your Side
There are steps you can take to help make sure your pets are safe if a fire breaks out while you’re not home.
The American Red Cross recommends pet parents keep collars on their pets and leashes easily ready in case a firefighter needs to secure them in an emergency. This will also help people identify your pets in case they run away during the chaos.
If leaving them home alone, the Red Cross also recommends to keep your pets in rooms or kennels near entrances where firefighters can easily locate them.
A sign at the door can also alert firefighters to be on the lookout for pets. Window clings and door stickers can be purchased and labeled with the number and type of pets in the home.
