GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After helping lead the No. 5/8 Florida softball team to a 3-0 weekend at Kentucky, Townsen Thomas earned her first Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas batted a team-best .667 (6-for-9) with four doubles, four RBI, four runs, a stolen base and a walk while in Lexington.

The redshirt freshman entered the weekend with four career doubles, doubling that number over three games.

She set a new career-best of two doubles in game one on March 13, and recorded one double in both game two and in the series finale.

Thomas had two hits in all three games and extended her hitting streak to 14 games.

Six games into conference play, the Humble, Texas, native, is leading the Gators in batting average (.500) and on-base percentage (.571).

Thomas and the Gators return to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on March 20-22 to host No. 1 Tennessee. Florida’s annual Yellow Game is slated for Saturday, March 21.
