City officials said there will be a “hauntingly” high number of events taking place, so drivers should plan ahead.
TAMPA, Fla. — A “hauntingly” high number of events are set to take place in and around downtown Tampa this weekend. This, as well as cooler temperatures in the forecast, could lead to a higher number of foot traffic and potential headache on the road.
That’s why city officials are urging drivers to plan ahead and expect congestion in the area on Saturday and Sunday.
“Be on the lookout for large amounts of pedestrians, some of whom may seem to pop up out of nowhere… like a ghost!” Tampa officials humorously wrote in a statement.
Officials say parking spaces may also be limited with several major events taking place on both days, including the Hyde Park Art Festival, Haunted Halloween Carnival at Armature Works, the Lightning games and shows at the Tampa Theatre and Straz Center for the Performing Arts.Â
Howard Frankland Bridge closure starting Oct. 26
For those planning to attend Sunday’s Lightning game or a nighttime event, expect some delays as part of the Howard Frankland Bridge between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will be shut down starting at 9 p.m.
Officials say overnight lane closures will take place on the bridge from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Saturday, Nov. 1.
Alternative transportation options for downtown Tampa events
City officials are urging attendees, goblins, and ghouls to use alternative transportation options when possible, including:
