OXFORD, Ohio – The RedHawks beat Ohio 4-1 on Friday in the 1000th game in school history. Miami improves to 12-4 (7-1 MAC) with the win while Ohio falls to 5-11 (3-5 MAC) with the loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:


Finley Payne scored her first goal of the season to put Miami on the board early in the first period.
Sloane Wearren scored the RedHawks’ second goal of the day midway through the second period. The score came on a penalty corner with an assist from Malena Sabez.
Justina Intzes scored unassisted, her 17th goal of the season, to close out the first half with a score of 3-0 in favor of Miami.
After two unsuccessful shots early in the fourth, Wearren found the back of the net again to put Miami ahead 4-0. Bet Gifra assisted.
Ohio answered with a goal minutes later to make it 4-1, but was unable to close the remainder of the gap.

 
MIAMI GAME NOTES:


The RedHawks totaled 19 shots (two on goal) and held the Bobcats to two shots (two on goal).
The RedHawks generated eight penalty corners and held the Bobcats to two.
Wearren went 2-for-4 with three shots on goal
Intzes went 1-for-3 with two shots on goal.
Gifra had three shots on goal and an assist.

 
UP NEXT: Miami’s final regular-season game will take place at home next Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. against Longwood. With a win, the RedHawks can clinch the regular-season MAC title.
