Search teams located the body of a missing teen whose canoe capsized on an Orange County lake, officials announced Wednesday.

Personnel had been searching for 17-year-old Eduardo Duarte since Monday, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office press release. Investigators were told the canoe he had been in began taking on water while on Lake Jessamine in south Orange County when severe weather moved through Central Florida.

The sheriff’s office stated detectives believe it to be an accidental drowning, but the case will remain open until autopsy results come in, the release stated.

The lake is located east of Orange Blossom Trail near Edgewood. The search included sheriff’s deputies with the marine unit and Orange County Fire Rescue, who had responded Monday afternoon after reports four teens had been canoeing on the lake when it capsized.

Teams rescued three of the teens but couldn’t find Duarte.

No further details on the incident were released.
