Lionel Messi reached yet another milestone Wednesday night, scoring the 900th goal of his extraordinary career to give Inter Miami an early 1–0 lead over Nashville SC in a Concacaf Champions Cup second-leg clash.
Messi took less than seven minutes to reach the landmark as the Argentine World Cup winner collected a pass from Sergio ReguilĂ³n, took two touches, then fired low into the bottom corner through the legs of defender Jeisson Palacios. The early breakthrough put Miami ahead on aggregate scores after the first leg ended goalless last week.

The 38-year-old was kept quiet in that contest, then was rested for last weekend’s MLS trip to Charlotte, temporarily putting the wait for 900 on hold.
His early strike at Chase Stadium, however, quickly secured another accomplishment in what is now his fourth season in South Florida, putting Miami on course for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Messi also has three goals from the three games he has taken part in this season in regular MLS play, with Miami aiming to repeat as MLS Cup champion. The Champions Cup is high on the priority list, however, offering a potential return to the Club World Cup, where Miami reached the round of 16 last summer.
