ORLANDO, FLa. – Central Florida’s drought conditions have not improved despite the rainfall from Sunday and Monday. The latest update shows conditions have held steady compared to last week, meaning things haven’t worsened—but they also haven’t gotten better.

Burn bans remain in effect across several areas, including Sumter, Lake, Polk, and Brevard counties. In Orange County, yard debris burning continues to be prohibited due to ongoing dry conditions.

The burn bans prohibit the following:
Use, ignition, or discharge of fireworks, sparklers, flares, or any items containing explosive compounds
Open burning, including campfires, fire pits, and similar containers
Throwing matches, cigarettes, or other burning materials from vehicles
Parking vehicles with catalytic converters in tall or dry grassy areas

So far this March, rainfall has been below normal in Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Leesburg, contributing to the continued drought concerns. Meanwhile, Sanford and Melbourne are seeing above-average rainfall for the month.
