A Miami Gardens woman was arrested after she allegedly set her apartment on fire during an argument with her boyfriend over infidelity, police said.

Tabitha Rebekah Woodard, 30, was arrested on a first-degree arson charge, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

The alleged incident happened Wednesday at a home in the 2900 block of Northwest 156th Street.

According to an arrest report, a man said he got home from work and noticed smoke coming from tenant’s efficiency, so he approached and found Woodard standing by the door and her mother sitting on a couch inside.

The man said he shouted at the mother to get out due to the fire and heavy smoke then called for emergency services as Woodard fled, the report said.

Once the fire was extinguished a fire investigator determined it was arson, the report said.

Police spoke with Woodard’s boyfriend of 13 years who said they had gotten into an argument the night before “due to her infidelity,” the report said.

He said the argument continued that morning and at one point he walked to his car and found his tires slashed so he left to buy new tires.

When he returned he found the home burning, the report said.

Woodard’s mother said she found Woodard in a bedroom standing near clothes that had been set on fire, the report said.

The mother said Woodard tried to put it out by tossing some water on it but then walked out of the home, the report said.

Woodard later returned to the home and was arrested and booked into jail.
