PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A drone-guided SWAT team swooped in on a Miami man early Friday after police say he burglarized cars in a Port St. Lucie neighborhood.
Officers with the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) say that a SWAT team deployed a drone to catch a suspected burglar, 22-year-old Germaine Mitchell of Miami, in the early hours of Friday.
Police say Mitchell was attempting to break into cars on SW Deer Run in the Sawgrass Lakes community and take valuables.

However, when dispatch received a call from a neighbor saying a man was lurking around his home around 4 a.m., police used security footage to identify and move in on the suspect, according to PSLPD.
A SWAT Technician deployed a drone, which tracked him down in the backyard of another potential victim, as shown in the aerial footage.
When officers arrested Mitchell, they reportedly found a wallet from a neighboring home that contained the owner’s ID and cash.
Police say they found probable cause to book Mitchell for counts of auto burglary, loitering and prowling, and resisting without violence.
