Local leaders DOGE comments came during the 2025 Orange County Regional Economic Summit

Demings joined Orlando City Mayor Buddy Dyer and leaders from Seminole and Osceola counties Friday during the 2025 Orange County Regional Economic Summit.

They talked about working together to address regional transportation solutions, the shortage of housing, helping homeless individuals and managing possible changes to property taxes in the coming years.

After the summit, Demings and Seminole County Commission Chair Jay Zembower responded to accusations from the DeSantis Administration that both Orange County and Seminole County governments are overspending.

They gave updates after undergoing recent state DOGE audits to analyze their spending.

“The state, the DOGE process, they had said that they would produce a report for Orange County within 60 days and we’re beyond that,” Demings said. “Unless it happened sometime this morning.”

Zembower said his county is also waiting to hear from the state on its final report.

“We’re expecting communications from the CFO as to what their findings are,” he said. “We’ve supplied additional information that they’ve requested, and my board has insisted that we send to them.”

Zembower said he hopes the state will respond soon so Seminole County residents can get the answers they deserve about how the county spends money.
