TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Spring is arriving with a bang this year. After a beautiful Friday, an unseasonably warm weekend is headed your way with highs climbing into the low 80s Saturday and Sunday, with some inland areas potentially reaching the mid to upper 80s Sunday.
Perfect conditions for getting outside
If you’ve been missing warmer weather, this is your weekend. Mostly sunny skies and light winds make it ideal for yard work, outdoor activities, or heading to the coast. This is the kind of weekend that gets people excited about the season ahead.
Boating conditions will be favorable with light winds and gentle breezes if you’re planning a trip out on the water.
Beach safety reminder
Despite the fair conditions, a moderate rip current risk continues due to onshore flow. If you’re heading to the beach, check what beach flags are flying before you go in the water.
The drought concern
While the warm, sunny weather is pleasant, the drought situation remains serious. No rain is expected through at least Tuesday next week, so severe to extreme drought conditions are likely to continue or worsen in the area.
A weak backdoor front may move through Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures and a low-end chance for rain. However, don’t count on it for drought relief as any rain that does fall will be light.
