A man facing vehicular manslaughter and other charges after an alleged hit-and-run crash that killed two pedestrians in Miami Beach was ordered held on a $1 million bond on Friday.
Adan Negron-Morris, 42, appeared before Judge Mindy Glazer who set the large bond amount after a prosecutor had initially asked for bond to be set at $100,000 on each count.
“I believe he poses a great danger to the community and others who live in this community,” Glazer said.
According to police, Negron-Morris was driving a Nissan Sentra recklessly when he struck the two pedestrians at the intersection of 73rd Street and Collins Avenue Wednesday night.
The pedestrians, who later died at the hospital, were identified as Sarisa Kongduang and Greatgomon Laowatdhanasapya, who were tourists visiting Miami Beach.
Kongduang was a student at Indiana University and Laowatdhanasapya had graduated from IU in 2024, the university said.
According to an arrest report, Negron-Morris had been involved in another hit-and-run shortly before he struck the pedestrians.
After hitting the victims, he kept going to 74th Street and Collins, where he stopped and fled on foot into a nearby Walgreens, police said.
Witnesses told officers where Negron-Morris could be found, and he was taken into custody before he was brought to a local hospital.

Miami Beach Police body camera video shows the arrest of Adan Negron-Morris on March 18, 2026.
According to an arrest report, a DUI investigation was initiated and Negron-Morris showed signs of impairment but refused to give a blood sample, though police ordered hospital staff to obtain a forced blood draw.
Negron-Morris later told investigators that he suffers from schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression, and had intended to take his own life by crashing the vehicle, the report said.
He said he recalled “closing his eyes, pressing the accelerator, and hoping to die” and said after hearing the crash he stopped as soon as he could and considered leaving the scene but instead went into the Walgreens, the report said.
In court Friday, it was learned Negron-Morris is from Lakeland and has been in South Florida for about two months.
He faces a total of four charges including two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
