A fugitive wanted in connection with a kidnapping case out of Florida was apprehended in Elizabeth City, North Carolina on Friday afternoon following a coordinated effort by local and state law enforcement.
At approximately 1:20 p.m., detectives with the Elizabeth City Police Department, alongside agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and North Carolina Probation and Parole, responded to the 1300 block of Walker Avenue in Elizabeth City.
Authorities were able to safely locate and take the kidnapping suspect into custody without incident.
During the incident, a three-year-old child connected to the case was also found unharmed. Officials confirmed the child is in the process of being reunited with their family.
The suspect was identified as Delon Ya’Heem Anthony Lee, 26, of Riverview, Florida.
Lee was arrested and transported to the Albemarle District Jail, where he is being held without bond. He faces two charges: interference with custody and being a fugitive from justice.
His first court appearance is scheduled for March 23 in Pasquotank County District Court.
